State Required Stormwater Management System Inspections and Reporting

Stormwater Management System Inspections and Reporting:

On June 28, 2024, Governor Ron Desantis signed Senate Bill 7040 into law, (62-330.311) which updated Florida’s storm water rules. The amendments to this rule require that operation and maintenance entities will be required to have estimates for the expected routine maintenance costs and to certify that they have the financial capability to maintain the stormwater system over time. The rule also requires routine periodic inspections and reporting on the inspection results to the permitting agency.

SLM Environmental Services staff have vast knowledge of the Environmental Resource Permitting program administered by the States various Water Management Districts and FDEP. In addition, our staff can conduct the State required storm water management system (i.e., system) inspections. This will ensure that the system is functioning in accordance with the required permitted conditions and you are also in compliance with State law.

The inspection will include all storm water related infrastructures such as control structures, weirs, orifice pipes, trash skimmers, catch basins, infiltration trenches, underground chambers, retention and detention ponds, conveyance swales, pipes, mitered end sections, above ground impoundments, impervious surfaces and pond side slopes.

Prior to conducting the system inspection, a thorough review of the State issued ERP will be completed to ensure that the permitted conditions of the system are understood. These criteria will include the project impervious surface coverage, the water quality treatment volumes and the treatment methods and discharge.

Let SLM Environmental Services assist you with the State inspection and reporting requirement to ensure that your system is maintained properly which will avoid costly repairs and potential State violations.
